Golden Grove Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Hail storms ripped through Golden Grove's vineyards on Christmas Eve 2014 taking much of the crop with it. Searching for a solution to deliver something from 2015, winemaker Ray Costanzo sourced this Sauvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills. A portion was barrel fermented and was added to deliver some more structure.

This is very Sauv Blanc if there is such a thing. Along with the usual tropical fruit, there's lots of green things here. Snow pea, melon and gooseberry. Texture from that barrel fermented component is apparent though not obtrusive. Quite cleansing and fresh, and although it's not my style of Sauvignon Blanc, I can see many adoring fans running towards it at speed.

Very good.
