Hollick Bond Road Chardonnay 2013

I get a sense that this wants to hang out with the cool kids but it just hasn't got the edge to mix it with 'em.

The bones of a great wine are here but they just don't seem to mesh. Barrel fermented with indigenous yeast, the oak presence is high.
Golden straw appearance, sweetish vanilla oak hits the nose hard. Yellow stone fruits with a limey tweak mid palate add further layers but it just seems a little disjointed. The fruit and acid balance is fair and the finish sits long. Having said all that, it would pass the roast chook test.

Drink now to eight years.
