Sirromet Signature Collection Shiraz Viognier 2014

Lots of cool climate Shiraz appeal rolling through here. Coming off vineyards sitting 818m above, the wine spent fifteen months in American and French oak (50/50).

Cherry vodka, berry basket, blood plums, oak char, and vanilla essence aromas. Delivery is soft with decent brightness in the mouth. A tease of apricot kernel comes and goes courtesy of 5% Viognier tipped in. Crunchy like acidity is pitched a stretch beyond the fruit leaving a numbness in the mid palate where I hoped the fruit would have had that fraction bit more depth. A dusting of pepper hangs long on the finish well beyond a couple of minutes blanketing the mouth with engaging warmth.

A good drink. Give it a good decant and off you go.

Drink now to six years.
